Quel est ton parcours en tant qu’illustrateur et dessinateur ?
Depuis 5 ans, je suis un illustrateur indépendant travaillant sur un certain nombre de licence comme Star Wars, Transformers Red Sonja, Vampirella et bien d’autres. Avant cela, j’ai travaillé dans une société locale d’animation ou j’ai créé des publicités télévisées entre autres.
Un de mes points forts fut la création et l’animation de la mascotte des Pistons de Detroit, l’équipe de Basket-Ball de NBA. Elle s’appelait Sir Slam-A-Lot.
En plus de tous ses projets je possède également mon propre studio, appelé Studio Three16, ou j’auto-publie des dessins et livres basé sur la religion Chrétienne.
As-tu suivi une école particulière ?
Je suis un artiste autodidacte. J’ai un diplôme en compatibilité de l’université près de chez moi. Même si je suis autodidacte, je suis toujours en train d’apprendre de nouvelles choses par mes paires, d’autres artistes et des tutoriels en ligne.
What is your professional background as an artist?
Over the past 5 years, I have been a freelance illustrator working on a number of licensed brands such as Star Wars, Transformers, Red Sonja, Vampirella, and more. Prior to that, I also worked with a regional animation company where I created animations for TV commercials and other spots. One of the highlights I had was being the creator and lead animator for the team mascot of the Detroit Pistons (our local professional basketball team in the NBA). The character ‘s name was Sir Slam-A-Lot. In addition to all of my hired projects, I also own my own art studio called, Studio Three16, where I self-publish Christian based artwork and books.
Did you follow any specific courses/schools/universities or are you an autodidact?
I am self taught as an artist. My degree is actually in Accounting from a local university. Even though I am self-taught , I am always trying to learn new things through my peers, fellow artists, and online tutorials.

En ce qui concerne Star Wars, j’ai principalement été impliqué dans l’élaboration de sketchcards pour les Tradings Card de Topps.
J’ai aussi dessiné quelques artworks originaux directement pour Lucasfilm dédiés à des ventes de charité.
How have you been involved in illustrating Star Wars?
How did you get involved into the Star Wars’ art/fan universe?
In regards to Star Wars, I have been primarily involved with their sketch card/trading card sets through Topps Trading Cards. I have created a couple of individually licensed pieces directly through LucasFilm for some charity events as well.
Quel est ton film Star Wars préféré ?
C’est une question difficile. Mon film préféré dépend de mon humeur. Et pour être honnête, mon champ de vision sur l’univers Star Wars va bien au-delà des films. J’ai lu la plupart des livres de l’UE, joué aux jeux vidéo, ainsi que regardé les épisodes de The Clone Wars. J’aime tout. Je préfère sélectionner des moments favoris plutôt qu’un fim. Mais s’il faut en choisir un seul, alors je dirais l’Empire Contre Attaque.
Quel est ton personnage Star Wars préféré dans la saga ?
Je n’ai que l’embarras du choix, et tous pour des raisons différentes. Si je ne devais en choisir qu’un seul, je dirais que mon personnage préféré est Asajj Ventress. J’aime la façon dont ils ont développé son personnage tout au long de la série The Clone Wars. Je veux connaître le reste de son histoire après la saison 5 et où elle finit. Espérons qu’elle apparaîtra dans la série Rebels.
Quel est le personnage Star Wars que tu préfère dessiner ?
Hmmm, mon favori à dessiner? Je dirais Boba Fett. J’aime dessiner les détails de son armure et ses armes. En outre, c’est un personnage dynamique qui autorise toute sorte d’idées lors de la création de scènes.
Quel est le personnage Star Wars que tu n’aimes pas dessiner ?
Pour moi, Luke est le plus difficile à dessiner. Il a des caractéristiques difficiles à reproduire et vous devez être vraiment bon pour que les gens le reconnaissent. Quelqu’un comme Han Solo a des caractérisiques plus distinctives, et dès que vous obtenez quelques éléments, les gens savent qui il est. Aussi je n’aime pas dessiner Chewie. Trop de cheveux.
What is your favorite Star Wars movie?
This is a tough question. My favorite movie depends on my mood. And to be honest, my scope of fandom for the Star Wars universe goes far beyond just the movies. I have read most of the Expanded Universe books, played the video games, and watch the Clone Wars TV series. I love it all. I typically think about my favorite moments more than I do and particular movie. But if forced to narrow it down to a single movie, I would have to choose the Empire Strikes Back.
What is your favorite Star Wars character? .
So many to choose from and for all different reasons. If I have to choose just one character, I would say my favorite character is Asajj Ventress. I love how they developed her character throughout the animated Clone Wars series. I want to know the rest of her story after season 5 ended and where she ends up. Hopefully she will show up in the Rebels series as well.
What is the character you prefer to draw? Please explain us why.
Hmmmmm. Favorite to draw ? I have to choose Boba Fett for this one. I love getting into the details of his armor and weapons. Also, he is a dynamic character which allows for all kinds of imagination when creating a scene with him in it.
What is the character you do not like to draw the most? Please explain us why.
For me, Luke is the hardest to draw. He has very average features, so you have to really get him correct so that people know who it is. Someone like Han Solo has more distinctive features, and so as long as you get those few key features correct, people still know who he is. Also do not like drawing Chewie. Too much hair. LOL.
Quelle(s) technique(s) utilises-tu et comment procèdes-tu pour arriver à ton illustration finale ? (dessins au crayon, aquarelle, gouache, acrylique, directement sur ordi, etc.)
Lorsque je travaille sur un artwork original, j’utilise crayons, encres, marqueurs, peintures aquarelle et crayons de couleurs. Pour mes oeuvres haut de gamme, je peins numériquement en utilisant une tablette Wacom Cintiq et photoshop CS6.
Quelle est l’illustration que tu as préférée réaliser ou que tu trouves la plus aboutie ? Pourquoi ?
Mon illustration préférée est un fan art avec un Stormtrooper portant un Stormtrooper blessé pour le mettre en sécurité. Je l’aime plus que les autres, car il montre un coté de l’univers Star Wars que nous ne sommes pas habitué à voir. Le point de vue des Stormtroopers et leur fraternité.
Which techniques do you use to reach the final work? (pencil, watercolour, gouache, acrylic painting, computer, etc.)
When working with original art, I use pencils, inks, markers, watercolor paints, and color pencil. For my high end artwork, I paint digitally using a Wacom Cintiq in Photoshop CS6.
What is the illustration that you like to have worked on the most or the best looking one according to you? Why?
My personal favorite is actually a piece of fan art I created featuring a Stormtrooper carrying a wounded Stormtrooper to safety. I like it the best, because it shows a perspective of the Universe we are not used to seeing – the perspective of the Stormtroopers and their brotherhood. Here’s a link to the image.

Je travaille sur beaucoup de sujet différent qui sont populaires à la télévision ou au cinéma. Mais je reviens toujours à Star Wars.
What are the other universes you usually work on? What is your favorite one, if any?
I work on a lot of things that are popular in TV and movies. But Star Wars is where I always return.

Il y a tant d’artistes qui ont influencé mes dessins, j’ai eu la chance de les rencontrer au fil des années. Parmis eux, Dave Droman, Christian Waggoner, Chris Scalf, Chris Trevas, et bien d’autres.
Do you have any preferred artist amongst others? Maybe a specific illustration of him?
There are so many artists out there who have been strong influences on my art and I have been blessed to get to know them over the years. Some of those artists include ; Dave Dorman, Christian Waggoner, Chris Scalf, Chris Trevas, and more.
Un séjour en Europe ou sur une convention prochainement ? Si oui où ? Sinon serais-tu intéressé ?
J’aimerais beaucoup faire quelques conventions en Europe. Le plus grand obstacle est le coût des vols. Je travails dur pour ajouter des conventions à mon calendriers en Europe et en Australie. Le temps et les finances seront un facteur décisif.
J’ai pour objectif de me rendre à plusieurs conventions en Irlande à Londres, en Allemagne, ainsi qu’en Australie et en Nouvelle-Zélande.
Comme MIB est aussi un site de collectionneurs, es-tu collectionneur ? Une pièce rare ou favorite ?
Je suis un grand fan de Star Wars et collectionneur. Tout d’abord, mon amour pour Star Wars se manifeste dans mon costume. Je suis membre de la 501st Legion au sein de la “Great Lake Carrison” (Michigan, USA). J’ai un costume de stormtrooper, et mon TK est les 10499. Je fais plusieurs trooping tout au long de l’année pour promouvoir Star Wars tout en aidant à collecter des fonds pour des organismes de bienfaisance et pour les enfants. J’ai aussi un costume de Jedi ainsi qu’un certains nombres de props que j’ai construit ou achetés.
Pour les éléments les plus typiques de ma collection, je suis particulièrement fans des Sixth Scale Figure de Sideshow Collectibles.
Do you plan to travel in Europe for a convention or any artists show? If yes, where? If no, would you be interested in joining such events?
I would love to do some Europe shows. The biggest obstacle is the cost of the flights. I am working hard to add shows to my schedule in Europe and Australia. Time and finances will be the deciding factor though.
Goals are to do shows in Ireland, London, Germany, and any other large shows in Europe, as well as Australia and New Zealand.

I am a HUGE Star Wars fan and collector. First and foremost, my love of Star Wars manifests itself in my costuming. I am a member of the 501st in the Great Lakes Garrison (Michigan, USA). I am a Stormtrooper in the 501st with the designation TK-10499. I do a number of troops throughout the year to promote the Star Wars brand while helping to raise money for charities and kids. I also have a Jedi costume as well as a number of high end props I either built or purchased. For the more typical collector items, I am a fan of the 12 inch figures from Sideshow Collectibles.
