eFX Collectibles, était peut-être l’un des stands les plus attendus par notre équipe sur place. En effet le fabricant de props réplica avait annoncé, avant le salon, qu’il dévoilerait plusieurs nouveautés et des prototypes bientôt disponibles. De notre côté nous en avons aussi profité pour glaner quelques informations auprès de l’équipe présente sur place.
Commençons par les casques, pas de nouveautés de ce côté, malheureusement : le casque de Boba Fett n’est toujours pas peint, mais l’on a tout de même appris que le casque de Stormtrooper Ralph McQuarrie devrait être disponible en pré-commande dans très peu de temps.
Comme promis eFX présentait sur son stand quatre nouveaux véhicules Studio Scale Replica. Tout d’abord le nouveau Y-Wing dans sa version définitive et trois modèles inédits : le TIE Bomber, l’AT-ST et le “Droid Escape Pod”. Malheureusement ce dernier ne sera pas produit par le fabricant. Dommage car il nous avait fait forte impression. Très impressionnant aussi le Probe Droid Studio Scale Replica incluant light-up, son et mouvements. Le droïde sonde Viper est impressionnant de par sa taille mais sans doute pas encore totalement terminé à notre goût. Un manque de détails peut-être ? Le droïde devrait être disponible en pré-commande vers la fin de l’année.
En plus de son stand eFX a participé aux collectibles panels, où plusieurs annonces ont été faites pour les mois (années?) à venir avec notamment le très attendu Yoda Puppet qui sera présenté au SDCC, un R2-D2 Full Scale Replica et une nouvelle gamme de bustes life-size.
Le grand absent du stand fut, pour nous, l’Imperial Star Destroyer Studio Scale Replica. Mais eFX nous a glissé au coin de l’oreille que c’est un projet auquel ils tenaient beaucoup, mais que la patience est de mise. Les quantités seront très limitées mais surtout il faudra plusieurs milliers de dollars pour se l’offrir.
The booth of eFX Collectibles was maybe one of the most expected by our team members who went to Anaheim. Indeed, the prop maker had announced before the convention that they would unveil several new products and prototypes, and that some of them would be available soon. On our side, we took the opportunity to ask the eFX team at Celebration couples of questions to have some new information.
Let’s start with the helmets, unfortunately no news there: Boba Fett’s helmet was still shown unpainted, but we managed to learn that the Ralph McQuarrie’s Stormtrooper helmet should be available as pre-order very soon.
As announced, eFX presented four new vehicles in the Studio Scale Replica series. First of all the new Y-Wing in its final version, and three other new pieces: the TIE Bomber, the AT-ST and the Droid Escape Pod, which will sadly not be produced by the prop maker. It is a pity because it looks very impressive. We could say the same about the Prop Droid Studio Scale Replica, with light-up, sounds and motion. This droid was impressive also because of its size, unfortunately, it seems to not be complete as yet. Not enough details, maybe? This droid should be available as pre-order by the end of the year.
In addition to its booth, eFX Collectibles was also part of the collectible panels, during which the company made several news statement for the months (years?) to come, such as the very expected Yoda Puppet, which will be introduced at the SDCC, a Full Scale Replica of R2-D2 and a new series of life-size busts.
There is one piece we expected to see, but unfortunately it was nowhere to be seen: the Studio Scale Replica Imperial Star Destroyer. But eFX told us that it is one of their favorite project, but that we should be patient, that the quantities would be very limited, and one would need several thousands of dollar to have his hand on it!
