Vous savez sans doute déjà tout sur le main event où JJ Abrams et Kathleen Kennedy sont venus nous parler de Star Wars : The Force Awakens et nous introduire la bande annonce du film.
Pour nous cette expérience fut toute particulière. En effet, nous avons passé la nuit avec des milliers de fans comme nous venus attendre la bande annonce et l’ambiance de ces nuits est toujours très particulière.
C’est donc tous ensemble que nous avons commencé la queue à l’extérieur puis ensuite dans les sous-sols du convention center. Plusieurs heures à attendre, à parler de ce qu’on attend de la convention du main event, à échanger et partager. Une soirée ponctuée par l’arrivée de 200 pizzas offertes par JJ Abrams et Lucasfilm.
Vers 6 heures du matin nous obtenons le bracelet orange qui nous servira de sésame pour rejoindre la salle principale du main event. Trois heures plus tard nous pouvons enfin rentrer dans cette grande arène où DJ Eliote, habitué des Celebrations, commence à mettre l’ambiance. Dans cette période d’attente Paul et notre ami Sébastien de Planète Star Wars ont eu le droit à une rencontre fortuite avec Bob Iger le PDG de Disney et une petite photo en souvenir.
Quelques minutes plus tard, JJ Abrams fut accueilli par la foule comme une rock-star, accompagné de Kathleen Kennedy. Ces derniers ont échangés avec nous sur la création de The Force Awakens et son tournage avant d’être rejoints par les R2-D2 Builders et d’introduire BB-8 devant une foule extasiée de voir que le petit droïde fonctionne réellement.
C’est alors que les nouveaux héros entrent en scène : Daisy Ridley, Oscar Isaac et John Boyega partagent avec nous leur ressenti vis-à-vis de Star Wars. C’est pour tous leur baptême du feu face aux fans et c’est avec un peu d’appréhension qu’ils sont rentrés sur scène. Mais l’accueil fut plus que chaleureux.
Puis ce fut le retour des anciens, malheureusement Harrison Ford aurait dû être là mais son accident d’avion il y a quelques mois l’a empêché de se joindre à la fête.
JJ Abrams a failli nous faire croire que nous n’aurions pas de bande annonce puis la lumière s’éteint et la tension monte dans la salle, et c’est sous les cris du public et de nous-mêmes que nous assistons à la première projection de la bande annonce de The Force Awakens. Il n’aura alors fallu qu’une minute et cinquante secondes pour retrouver Star Wars à l’écran, l’émotion nous emporte tous et c’est suite à une deuxième projection que nous quittons la salle, des étoiles plein les yeux.
By now, you certainly know everything about the main event, where JJ Abrams and Kathleen Kennedy came to speak about Star Wars: The Force Awakens and to show us the trailer of the movie.
It was a very particular experience for us: we spent the night with thousands of fans, who came with the same goal: waiting for the trailer, and the mood of this kind of nights is always special.
All together, we started to queue outside, then in the basements of the convention center. Several hours of waiting, to speak of our expectations of the main event, to exchange and to share. And cherry on the cake, JJ Abrams and Lucasfilm offered us 200 pizzas.
At around 6:00am, we were handed the orange bracelet, which would allow us to enter the main hall of the main event. Three hours later, we were able to enter that main arena where DJ Eliote, used to animate Celebrations, started to set the mood. During that waiting time, Paul and our friend from Planète Star Wars, Sébastien, got the luck to meet with Bob Iger, the CEO of Disney, and of course, they managed to have a photograph taken with him.
Couples of minutes later, JJ Abrams was welcomed by the crowd like a rockstar, with Kathleen Kennedy. They exchanged with the crowd about the creative process of The Force Awakens, its shooting, all that before R2-D2 came on stage with the R2 Builders and that we were introduced to BB-8. We were all amazed to see that it really works! Then the new heroes climbed up on the stage: Daisy Ridley, Oscar Isaac and John Boyega. They shared with us their feelings and emotions about Star Wars. For all of them it was their first baptism of fire in front of the fans, so it is understandable that they were a little bit afraid. But they got a warm welcome.
It was then the time for the old team to go on stage, unfortunately due to his plane crash couple of months ago, Harrison Ford was not able to be part of the C/celebration.
JJ Abrams teased us in believing that we wouldn’t watch the trailer, then the lights went off, the heart was beating faster and faster and it was under the cheers of the crowd that we got the first projection of the trailer of The Force Awakens. It was only 1 minute and 50 seconds, but we got Star Wars back onto the silver screen! We were all overwhelmed by emotions, and after a second projection we left the arena with stars in our eyes.
