Pour la première fois depuis Star Wars Celebration IV, Sideshow Collectibles présentait un stand lors de l’event.
Axé uniquement sur Star Wars, le stand présentait les pièces du fabricant et de Hot Toys ainsi que l’exposition R2-M2 des R2-D2 Sixth Scale Figures customisés. Nous reviendrons sur cette exposition un peu plus tard.
Commençons par les exclus de ce salon où Sideshow a dévoilé les prototypes du Stormtrooper Ralph McQuarrie Premium Format et le Dark Vador RMQ Sixth Scale Figure. Ces deux statues encore à l’état de prototypes sont très attendues des fans et devraient être dévoilées complétement lors du SDCC en juillet.
Les autres nouveautés se situaient du côté des Sixth Scales Figures où le fabricant dévoilait le droïde R5-D4 et le duo de Jawas (que nous avions déjà pu apercevoir au siège de Sideshow mais c’est une autre histoire…). C’était aussi pour nous l’occasion de découvrir toute la gamme de Sixth Scale Figures à venir : Luke Pilote, le pilote de TIE, Biker Scout etc. On en oublierait presque la superbe Legendary Scale Figure d’Obi-Wan et l’époustouflant Yoda Life Size.
De son coté, Hot Toys était venu avec les futurs Vador, Han Solo et Chewie déja annoncés mais aussi avec le Sandtrooper dévoilé pour la première fois.
De l’autre côté Sideshow présentait la fameuse exposition R2-M2. Cette expo hors-normes regroupait plus de 50 droïdes R2-D2 Sixth Scale Figure customisés par autant d’artistes.
L’expo vaut vraiment le coup d’œil et certains droïdes sont vraiment très travaillés. L’exposition devrait être une nouvelle fois présentée lors du SDCC puis les robots seront mis aux enchères pour une œuvre caritative à la fin de l’année.
For the first time since Star Wars Celebration IV, Sideshow Collectibles had a booth during Celebration Anaheim.
The booth was only oriented to Star Wars related products where both Sideshow’s and Hot Toys’s pieces were presented. There was also the R2-M2 exhibition with several tens of customized R2-D2 Sixth Scale Figures. But we will speak about this one later on.
Let’s first start with the Star Wars Celebration Anaheim exclusivities: Sideshow unveiled the prototypes of the Ralph McQuarrie’s Premium Format Stormtrooper and also the RMQ’s Sixth Scale Figure Darth Vader. These two statues, which were still prototypes, were really expected by the fans, and they should be shown as a final version during the SDCC in July.
The other new pieces were to be seen on the side of the Sixth Scales Figures: Sideshow unveiled the R5-D4 astromech nearby the Jawa duet (that we discovered at Sideshow’s HQ, but that’s another story…). It was also for us the opportunity to discover the pieces to come of the Sixth Scale Figures series: Luke Skywalker in pilot gear, the TIE Fighter pilot, a Biker Scout etc. We nearly forgot to mention the superb Legendary Scale Figure of Obi-Wan and the breathtaking Yoda Life Size.
Concerning Hot Toys, the company brought to Anaheim the coming Darth Vader, Han Solo and Chewbacca, already announced, but also, for the first time, the Sandtrooper.
On the other side, Sideshow presented the famous R2-M2 exhibition. This unusual exhibition regrouped, in the same place, more than fifty Sixth Scale Figure R2-D2 customized by as many artists.
It is really a to-see exhibition and several droids are even more-than-incredible. This exhibition should go in July to San Diego for the SDCC, and later, at the end of the year, the pieces will be sold in auctions for a charity.
