Ce vendredi 26 juillet voyait l’ouverture de la seconde édition de Celebration Europe II à Essen. Cette journée s’est conclue sur la projection en plein air de l’édition spéciale du Retour du Jedi.
La projection a eu lieu dans le “Grugapark” tout près du Messe d’Essen. Le parc devient alors une immense salle de cinéma où il était possible d’apporter son pique-nique.
Il y a tout d’abord la projection d’un reportage regroupant des interviews de fans ou de personnalités qui nous font partager leurs sentiments ressentis à l’époque. Retentit ensuite la fanfare de la 20th Century Fox, suivie du fameux générique de John Williams sous de légers applaudissements. Il est vrai que la plupart des participants ont passé toute la journée dans les allées de la convention.
La nuit apporte à la projection l’atmosphère nécessaire pour bien profiter du film.
Trois moments du film ont été salués par le public. Tout d’abord de nombreux applaudissements lors d’une des phrases cultes du film : “It is a trap” du Général Ackbar, et ensuite pour la mort de l’empereur précipité par Dark Vador dans un puits sans fond de la seconde étoile noire. Au contraire, des huées sont venues ponctuer l’apparition de Hayden Christensen en remplacement de Sebastien Shaw dans la scène finale lorsqu’il rejoint les esprits de Yoda et d’Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Au générique de fin, de nombreux sabres lasers sont allumés pour saluer cette projection.
Pour finir la soirée, une troupe de cascadeurs nous fait une démonstration de combats au sabre laser entre Jedi, Sith et Dark Vador au pied de l’écran de cinéma sous un ciel devenu tout étoilé.
This Friday, July 26 saw the opening of the second edition of Celebration Europe II in Essen. The day ended with the outdoor screening of the Special Edition of Return of the Jedi.
The screening took place in the “Grugapark” near the Messe Essen. The park becomes a huge movie theater where it was possible to bring the picnic.
There is firstly the screening of a documentary comprised of interviews with fans or people who share with us their feelings felt at the time. Then the band sounds of 20th Century Fox, followed by the famous music of John Williams in generic light applause. It is true that most of the participants have spent all day in the aisles of the convention.
The night brings the projection atmosphere needed to fully enjoy the film.
Three moments of the film were welcomed by the public. Firstly many applause during a cult film sentences: “It is a trap” by General Ackbar, and then the death of the Emperor precipitated by Darth Vader in a bottomless pit of the second Death Star . Instead of boos came punctuate the appearance of Hayden Christensen replacing Sebastian Shaw in the final scene when he joined the spirits of Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi.
At the end credits, many lightsabers are lit to welcome this projection.
To end the evening, a group of stunt gave us a demonstration of lightsaber battles between Jedi, Sith and Darth Vader at the bottom of the movie screen in a starry sky became all.
