Une nouvelle fois Lucasfilm et ReedPop ont amené le gratin des artistes à Star Wars Celebration. Bien que le choix des œuvres ait laissé perplexes un grand nombre de collectionneurs, nous avons pu nous rendre compte que le dessin rend souvent bien mieux sur papier que devant son écran d’ordinateur ou de smartphone.
La majorité des artistes était réunie au cœur du Art Show de ACME où nous pouvions venir récupérer nos artworks précommandés plus tôt sur internet. Une nouvelle fois, avec la foule présente, sans réservation vous aviez de grandes difficultés à vous procurer les artworks des artistes les plus connus : la plupart étant “sold out” entre vendredi et samedi. D’autres artistes avaient décidé de prendre leur stand hors du Art Show et de pouvoir ainsi être plus libres de vendre leurs dessins, c’était le cas d’Alex Ross, Randy Martinez & Denise Vasquez, Spencer Brinkerhoff III et quelques autres.
Un petit clin d’œil à Jerry Vanderstelt qui a réalisé plusieurs peintures en live tout au long des quatre jours et qui, malgré tout son travail, nous a accordé beaucoup de temps pour parler. Merci à lui !
Once more Lucasfilm and ReedPop brought some of the best artists to Star Wars Celebration. The selection of the artworks was received with doubts by many of us, but we should admit that the drawing often look better on paper or canvas than on a computer screen or worse on a smartphone.
Most of the artists were all in the middle of the ACME’s Art Show where it was possible to collect the preorders made on internet. Once again, due to the crowd, without preorder it was very difficult to get an artwork from a well known artist: most of them were “sold out” either on Friday or on Saturday.
Other artists, like Alex Ross, Randy Martinez & Denise Vasquez, Spencer Brinkerhoff III and some others, had decided to have their own booth out of the Art Show to have more freedom concerning the sale of their artworks.
A small allusion to Jerry Vanderstelt who made several artworks during the convention and, despite all his workload, took the time to speak and discuss with us. Thank you Jerry!
