Few effects artists "pffffffuiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit !" talk about what you see on the screen with as much knowledge as John, and none are as entertaining and informative.

3:00pm - 4:30pm: Celebration Japan Costume Contest Don't miss seeing the beautiful, funny, and imaginative Star Wars costumes on parade at the Costume Contest. Keep your eyes open for the festive parade of costumed characters -- from the contest and from the show floor -- who will parade to the Main Stage just before the event. The Contest will be judged by celebrity judges Anthony Forrest (Fixer), Tim Rose (Admiral Ackbar), and Orli Shoshan (Shaak Ti) as well as Japanese prop builder Goro Inoue.

Takeuchi-san will present never-before-seen footage from his Clone Wars episode especially for fans of Celebration Japan. Joining Takeuchi-san will be The Clone Wars Supervising Director Dave Filoni, and actor Matthew Wood, who plays the voice of General Grievous.

The Celebration Japan Fan and Collectors' Stage brings the very best of fan-inspired programs to the show. Hear fans talking about their Star Wars passion, and learn how to make some of those things you've always wanted to make yourself.

The Collectors' Panels offer great information on collecting Japanese Star Wars treasures, as well as collectibles from around the world. In addition to the useful and entertaining information, collectors will be thrilled with the rare, exclusive Celebration Japan commemorative medallions that will be given away at random times during the collecting panels. Collect all 12 medallions that celebrate classic Star Wars toys created in Japan.

Japan has until now been an untapped resource of amazing vintage, unlicensed collectibles. From playing cards to carded figures, model kits, and miscellanea, be sure to find out why cheap imitations are never cheap!

With Hideyuki Takizawa: Some of the representative Japanese posters have been introduced in The Star Wars Poster Book and The Star Wars Vault by Steve Sansweet and Pete Vilmur. But there are even rarer, more unusual posters from Japan that people do not know. This talk will showcase those rare, unusual, and never before seen posters.

With Eimei Takeda, Yu Katagiri, Luis Galvez, Chris Georgoulias, and Cathy Kendrick: Have an item you "pffffffuiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit !"'t identify, or the value of which you "pffffffuiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit !"'t find in a price guide? Bring it to the Celebration Japan Collectibles Road Show and have the item appraised by our panel of experts. Learn about the item's history, collector demand, scarcity, and value. Collectors participating in the Road Show will get more information about their items, and also have the opportunity to share their treasures with fellow collectors.

What to bring? Any item you think is extraordinary and about which you "pffffffuiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit !"'t find good information from other sources. If it's unlisted in price guides, or the guides provide little information or no pictures, our panelists "pffffffuiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit !" likely help you find out what you need to know. Try to stump the experts if you think you "pffffffuiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit !"!

What not to bring? If your item shows up in an online auction search on any given day, you "pffffffuiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit !" probably get the information you need online. A note on packaging errors: while items in the wrong package or with other minor errors are of interest to some collectors, generally these items garner a minor premium at best and are often worth less. For modern (post-1990) items, the few exceptions that have additional value are well-documented in price guides.

With Yu Katagiri: This talk is about the varieties of Japanese Star Wars collectibles where little is known about their background and scarcity, such as 1978 Morinaga premiums, Meiji premium stickers (all 30 kinds) and polyester mini figures (all 10 kinds, plus a mysterious 11th), and capsule vending machine merchandising.

John Scoleri, author of the spectacular new book, The Art of Ralph McQuarrie, will show images of the influential artist's works, both Star Wars and non-Star Wars. The book celebrates McQuarrie's contributions, particularly his designs that shaped the Star Wars movies and helped bring George Lucas' vision to the screen.

2:00pm - 3:00pm: Star WarsCollecting: Introduction to Collecting
With Eimei Takeda and Chris Georgoulias: Takeda and Georgoulias, seasoned Star Wars collectors, will share tips on getting started with collecting and keeping your collection going. This panel will give overviews to most general aspects of the hobby including networking, researching, finding items, pitfalls, terminology, grading, displaying, and much more. There will be an opportunity for questions and answers from the audience.

3:00pm - 4:00pm: Star Wars Collecting: Star Wars Plush Toys
With Andy Loney: It all started with an R2-D2 with a squeaking sound and a two-foot-tall Chewbacca with a bandolier strap. Plush Star Wars toys were produced when Star Wars began, and they are still as popular today as ever. From Ewoks to Jawas, vintage to modern, prototypes to un-produced, and Disney Park exclusives to claw machine toys in Japan, there are many varied and interesting areas to explore in the world of plush Star Wars toys. Grab your stuffed Wicket the Ewok and learn more about this soft and cuddly collecting arena.

4:00pm - 5:00pm: Star Wars Collecting: Unproduced Star Wars Toys
With Gus Lopez: It might come as a surprise to some collectors that there are actual Star Wars toys that were designed but never released in stores. A few collectors embark on the extremely difficult challenge of documenting, locating, and acquiring some of these rare pieces that give a snapshot of what could have been. This presentation will cover early stages of produced toys that are far removed from the final product. There are many examples of toy weapons, action figures, vehicles, playsets, video games, and packaging that never made it to retail shelves. Whether considered in design drawings, one-of-a-kind mocked-up prototypes, or production-quality samples, the toy design process yields artifacts of great interest to collectors.

1:00pm - 2:00pm: Star Wars Collecting: Star Wars Food Collectibles
With Duncan Jenkins and Jonathan McElwain Star Wars food promotions have existed since the very beginning of the phenomenon. There have been over 10,000 different food collectibles from hundreds of promotions in over 100 different countries. Food collectibles are extremely challenging to find due to their short lifespan and national (and even regional) differences. In addition to the well-known name-brand beverage, candy, chip, cookie, cereal, and fast food promotions, there have also been licensed Star Wars Easter eggs, ice cream, yogurt, TV dinners, entrees, hot dogs, peanut butter, cheese, waffles, mustard, curry, popcorn, and even dog food. See examples of obscure and prized food collectibles from all over the world in this fascinating panel.

2:00pm - 3:00pm: Star Wars Collecting: Japanese Coca Cola Collectibles
With Japanese Collector Tomihiko Amanuma: Thirty years ago, Coca Cola ran a massive Star Wars campaign in Japan that promoted product nation-wide starting in summer 1978. The bottle cap crowns were as popular with fans in 1978 as they are with collectors today. Collectors continue to try to complete their sets in the signature floppy collector trays, but that's just the beginning. Come learn about the varied and obscure Star Wars Coca Cola collectibles that were part of Japan's first-ever Star Wars food promotion.

3:00pm - 4:00pm: Star Wars Collecting: Star Wars Trading Cards
With Andy Dukes and Cathy Kendrick: For 30 years, card collectors and Star Wars fans have been collecting Star Wars cards. Cards that have evolved over time from simple bits of cardboard with images of favorite characters and scenes, to much more artistic representations of the Star Wars universe. Some cards today are literally art, original sketches created by artists as chase cards to modern sets. It would be easy to spend our time telling you about just a small portion of the sets released by Topps over the 30 years of Star Wars, or even just listing all of the many Japanese card and sticker sets that were issued, but we'd be neglecting a lot of the fun of Star Wars card collecting if that was all we did. This presentation is about the mysteries and challenges of collecting Star Wars trading cards, and the importance of looking beyond the obvious as you build your collection.

4:00pm - 5:00pm: Star Wars Collecting: Humorous Star WarsItems
With Duncan Jenkins: Star Wars fans might own the action figures and trade the trading cards. They might wear the T-shirts and play the video games. They even frequent whatever eating establishment has the latest Star Wars "kids" meal toys. So, for many, the concept of a humorous collectible is not readily obvious. But some of the best attention-grabbing collectibles are the ones that make collectors smile, laugh, or think "I "pffffffuiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit !"'t believe they made that!" From Jabba the Hutt on a Peach Melba Yogurt Cup to six-foot Ewoks On Ice Skates, the Star Wars collectibles universe has had some very humorous licensed items.
